Tips that make it go smoothly
- Sign people up for categories, not specific dishes. It keeps the list short and leaves room for favorite recipes.
- As a rule of thumb, plan one main dish for every 8–10 guests and a little more dessert than you think you need.
- Ask for the dish name and allergens in the note so guests with allergies can plan ahead.
- Add the non-food jobs too: plates, serving spoons, ice, trash bags. They are the things everyone forgets.
- Lock the sheet two days before the event so the list stops changing, then print it for the food table.

Questions
Can guests say what dish they are bringing?
Yes. The sign-up form has a note field, and the potluck template asks for the dish name and allergens.
Can more than one person take the same category?
Yes. Each category has a number of spots, for example three people for main dishes. You can change the numbers at any time.
