Questions
Is it free?
Yes. There is no paid plan and nothing to unlock. A small number of ads pay for the hosting.
Can the organizer see who drew whom?
Not on their page: it only shows who has picked their name, and there is no list of pairs anywhere on the site. Each match is shown only to whoever picks that name. The organizer can free a name so it can be picked again (for someone who lost their phone, say), and if that happens to your name, your page tells you.
Could someone pick a name that isn't theirs?
Anyone with the link can pick a name that is still free, so share it only with your group. Each name can be picked once, so if yours is already taken you will notice: tell the organizer, who can reset it and give it a new match.
Does anyone need an email address or an account?
No. You type the names and share one link in your group chat. Each person opens it and taps their own name.
What if someone taps the wrong name?
A name can only be picked once. If someone picks yours by mistake, the organizer resets that name from the organizer link so you can pick it. When someone has not picked yet, the name also gets a new match, so the mistaken tap gives nothing away.
I picked my name on another phone. How do I see my match?
Use "Link for my other devices" on the phone where you picked, and open that link on the new one. If you no longer have that phone, ask the organizer to reset your name as "lost access": you keep the same match and wish list.
We share one phone or tablet. Does that work?
Yes. After you have seen your match, tap "Not you?" so the next person can pick their own name on the same device. Your match stays hidden until you tap to reveal it.
Can I stop couples or housemates drawing each other?
Yes. Add a "don't draw each other" rule for each pair. The draw respects every rule, and tells you if the rules make a draw impossible.
How many people can take part?
From 3 to 100 people per group.
Can people say what they would like?
Yes. After picking their name, each person can write a wish list. It is shown to the person who drew them, never on the group page.
Someone joined late or dropped out. What now?
The organizer changes the list of people. Nobody has to pick their name again, and people who already looked keep their match whenever possible: adding one person usually changes just one other match. Anyone whose match changes sees a note the next time they open the link.
How long is the group kept?
Groups are deleted automatically 60 days after the exchange date, or 120 days after they were created if there is no date. The organizer can delete a group at any time.
